WhatsApp Business AI in India: How to Use It With Your Website
Meta launched Business AI for WhatsApp in India in 2026. Here's what it does, where it helps small businesses, and how to connect it with your website to win more enquiries.

For most Indian customers, WhatsApp is the first place they ask a question. In May 2026, Meta introduced Business AI on WhatsApp for small businesses in India: an AI assistant inside the WhatsApp Business app that can answer common customer questions on your behalf.
Used well, it means fewer missed enquiries after hours. Used badly, it means customers talking to a bot that doesn't know your prices. Here's how to get it right.
What WhatsApp Business AI does
According to Meta's announcement, Business AI helps small businesses respond to customers inside the WhatsApp Business app. It's designed to handle common questions about products, prices, offers and delivery, and it's rolling out to eligible businesses in stages.
It works best for repeated, factual questions — "What are your timings?", "Do you deliver to Surat?", "What's the price of the 5-page website package?" — and should hand anything complex to a person.

Give the AI good information
An AI assistant can only be as accurate as what you give it. Before switching it on:
- Fill in your WhatsApp Business profile: address, hours, website and description
- Add your catalogue with current prices and photos
- Write clear answers for your top ten customer questions
- Set greeting and away messages that tell people when a human will reply
Connect WhatsApp to your website
Your website and WhatsApp should work as one journey:
- Add a click-to-chat button on every page, especially service and pricing pages. Our own site has a WhatsApp button that stays in reach of the thumb on phones.
- Pre-fill the message, for example "Hi, I'm interested in a website for my shop", so you know where the lead came from.
- Show prices on the website. Customers who've already seen your pricing ask better questions and are closer to buying.
- Link back to proof. When someone asks "Have you done this before?", reply with a link to a relevant case study.
Keep a human in the loop
- Reply personally to anything about quotes, complaints or custom work
- Check the AI's conversations regularly and correct wrong answers
- Never let it promise delivery dates, discounts or refunds you haven't approved
Mind your customers' data
WhatsApp chats contain personal data. Under India's DPDP Rules, the main duties apply from May 2027. Only collect what you need, don't share chat exports carelessly, and delete old leads. Read our DPDP website checklist for the basics.
